For Parents Sharing Custody of Children: Are COVID-19 Vaccines a Battleground?

The pandemic has produced many conflicts between parents sharing custody. One parent may have felt that the other parent was being too careless in exposing children to possible infection, either by bringing too many people into the home or by taking the child into public settings.

Even before COVID-19 disrupted our lives, separated or divorced parents sharing custody of children were occasionally doing battle over the standard vaccines that are familiar to all of us.

Other medical issues that have caused conflict in the past include whether a child should take ADHD medication, whether teenage girls should take birth control, whether children should receive vaccines that protect against the human papillomavirus, whether a young child should take antidepressant medication and whether a child should be placed in a treatment program.
